However, large files are just par for the course when saving master files. What's preventing you from using prores as a master file outside of filesize? I personally use op1a export setting for master files but it's a larger file. Which will then be compressed a third time once uploaded to something like youtube if applicable. The only advantage to exporting prores after already exporting an mp4 (I'm assuming the codec is h.264) is to prevent compressing your original twice (a very compressed lossy file).
